A comprehensive portfolio of products for the steel cutting and processing industry has always been a goal of First Cut’s. According to Steve Van Wyk, Sales Director at First Cut, the company is now in a position to offer a complete processing solution with the addition of the Voortman agency to its comprehensive basket of international suppliers.
Voortman has designed, developed and manufactured machinery for the steel fabrication and plate processing related industries for more than 40 years. This globally recognised supplier has installed thousands of systems and continually develops its equipment range to remain at the forefront of technology.
“Voortman offers CNC-controlled steel processing systems for structural steel fabricators, steel service centres, steel stockholders and manufacturers, worldwide. The product range is divided into beam processing, plate processing, flat and angle processing, and surface treatment. Voortman’s product range complements our current product portfolio of structural steel fabrication equipment and plate processing equipment for the steel processing industry,” Van Wyk explains.
“In addition to a range of high-quality capital equipment, Voortman, in conjunction with the first-line support from First Cut, also offers complete installation and commissioning of the systems at the customer’s premises. This is followed by after-sales service which includes a helpdesk, on-site service, supply of parts and consumables and ongoing maintenance of equipment,” says Pieter van Grol, Manager: International Sales for Voortman.
“First Cut’s approach towards customer-centric service closely mirrors Voortman’s business philosophy. This, together with the company’s extensive South African footprint and market knowledge make them the perfect partner for Voortman,” adds Van Grol.
“First Cut already has a variety of processing machines, but the partnership with Voortman enables us to offer complete processing solutions in the market. The Multi-System Integration solutions from Voortman enables customers to increase the duration of their production by interconnecting several machines to their material handling systems, all integrated via Voortman’s VACAM control software,” Van Wyk points out.
“The Voortman range of solutions now provides our clients with access to punching and shearing machines. The recent acquisition of Bach allows them to extend their plate processing range. Voortman has added 10 new products to their range in the last four years, ensuring that customer demands are clearly met,” says Van Wyk.
Van Wyk comments that a number of First Cut technicians are already experienced in drilling and cutting lines, punching and shearing as well as plate processing. “This means that with training, they will be able to quickly familiarise themselves with the Voortman machines. In addition, First Cut is already geared up to provide support to local clients, with a technical and spare parts call centre.
“Voortman is a dynamic international supplier of all the solutions required by the South African structural steel industry. They are globally recognised and have a strong installed base worldwide. Because of an impressive number of pre-existing Voortman installations in South Africa, there is an immediate customer reference to the quality of the machinery. This makes First Cut’s job of bringing the products to market so much easier,” Van Wyk concludes.
