DISCOVER THE VERSATILE BEAM PROCESSING SYSTEMS
FROM VOORTMAN

02 July 2013

Voortman has developed beam processing machinery to cover all aspects in processing structural steel. All machines can be combined and configured by the most sophisticated and user-friendly machine software in the market; the VACAM control software. To suit the end user the extensive range of equipment guarantees the right solution for every application.

BAND SAWING SYSTEMS WITH OPTIMAL CUTTING SPEEDS
The VB range of sawing systems is equipped with the latest technology. All systems feature servo motors and spindles for a fully controlled completion of the sawing cycle and automatic adjustment of the hydraulic pressure settings coming directly from the VACAM control software. This results in optimal cutting speed for both straight cuts as mitre cuts.

Peak efficiency
Particularly during operations such as sawing an H-profile the Voortman machine ‘really comes into its own’ by making automatic adjustments via the controller. How? By continuously monitoring and processing data concerning the tensions of the band saw blade, sawing pressure, material removal rate, torque differences, etc. With this innovation, the saw always operates at peak efficiency.

Measuring options
For measuring profiles the band sawing lines can be provided with two types of measuring systems; a full stop measuring system which measures the material by means of a liftable stop plate catching the profile using its detection plate. The second option a feeder truck measuring system, which pushes the material forward into the machine.

Micro cooling
For optimal cooling of the sawing blade a mixture of air and oil is sprayed onto the blade. In combination with a motor driven swarf brush the sawing blade remains clean to maximize and extend the lifetime.

Pressure sensors
Two pressure sensors are used to measure the actual sawing blade pressure. Collected data is used to constantly adapt the sawing speed, feed rate and pressure for the best cutting results with less wear of the sawing blade.

Automatic out-feed system for short products
To increase the automation level of the sawing system, an automatic out-feed system for short products is available. All products up to 1.200 mm / 4 ft will be clamped during cutting. After cutting it will be transported from the saw and pushed out sideways. Clean cuts are dropped into a separate bin.

THE MOST VERSATILE 8-AXIS ROBOTIC COPING MACHINE
The most versatile machine out of the beam processing range is the V808 beam coping system. This system can do the same operations, depending on requirements, as a sawing system, a drilling system, a punching and shearing system, a. cutting system and a layout marking system.

Fast industrial robot
With 8 axes the system is capable of cutting and marking all possible 3D shapes on 4 sides of a profile without manual intervention. Several types of plasma sources are available to create faster cutting speeds and enable piercing and cutting thicker material. Being equipped with a high-definition plasma source, makes the V808 up to 10x faster than a regular oxy-fuel cutting machine.

Automatic robot calibration
The proprietary VACAM software automatically calibrates the robot. This automatic function eliminates the need of an onsite service technician. The automatic calibration uses the same sensor inside the torch that is used for measuring exact beam dimensions.

Movable conveyors
To be able to cut the front, but also the back of a profile, it is possible to create a cutting area on either side of the measuring system, which is situated in the middle. Before a cut has to be made, the roller conveyor moves sideways automatically to create a space where the robot can work without damaging the transport systems.

Examples
Next to the following examples, almost any cut can be made, as long as the torch can mechanically reach. This includes a lot of non-structural copes frequently used for instance in oil, gas and energy sectors.
